That solidarity was purposely wrecked, after the 1981 youth uprisings against supremacist policing (principally African-Caribbean in Brixton and Bristol, mostly Asian in Southall and Bradford, and more heterogeneous in Liverpool), when the Thatcher government forced more police forces, as well as the expression "dark and minority ethnic" (BME) to characterize all of us.
